The Peleponese is a wild natural peninsula the juts out into the South Aegean Sea, separated from the Greek mainland by the Corinthia canal which joins the Ionian and Aegean seas. Full of important archaeological sites, the Peleponese was home to the warlike Spartans who came to dominate the region during ancient times.
