Built as a hotel in 1930 by Great Western Railways, Bovey Castle remains today one of Britain’s eminent luxury resorts, offering a wide array of country pursuits, spa experiences and fine dining.

Bovey Castle lies within a 275-acre estate in the heart of Dartmoor national park. Offering 60 rooms and suites, alongside 22 self-catering lodges, the estate is one of only a handful of true luxury & lifestyle resorts in the UK.

There are two restaurants to choose from as well as a spa with ESPA branded products, a gorgeous swimming pool with Dartmoor views and a super selection of activities to enjoy within the estate covering the favourite British country pursuits.

Architecture

Bovey Castle is something of a rarity among British Country House Hotels in that it was purpose built by Great Western Railways in the 1930’s as a holiday resort destination. The architectural details and period features of the building are unmistakably those of a manor house however the layout of the corridors, accommodation and guest areas are elegantly configured as you would expect from a purpose-built hotel.
