Eden Project

Eden Project

A global garden for the 21st century, the spectacular Eden Project is nestled in a huge crater, providing a dramatic setting in which to tell the fascinating story of plants, people and places.

Hundreds of octagonal and pentagonal plastic cells supported by still frames from the biomes, which mimic the environments of warmer climes.

The hot and humid Rainforest Biome houses, the largest enclosed rainforest in the world while the Mediterranean Biome re-creates the warm temperature climate and landscapes of the Mediterranean, South Africa, California and Western Australia.

If you want to see The Eden Project from the air you can ride over the biomes on a 660-m zip wire, by the way, the longest in England.

In Eden Project you will see:

  • Tropical island with fascinating and rare plants
  • The Titan arum in the Malaysia area that smells of rotting flesh
  • The West Africa section features the Iboga plant, which is central to the African religion Bwiti.
  • Some plants in the South America area reach enormous proportion
  • The coffee plant ( Coffee Arabica ) is one of the many plants on display that are used in our everyday lives.

The relationship between humans and nature is interpreted in sculptures by artists throughout the site. The Core education centre hosts exhibitions and workshops, as well as every year at the end of June the Eden Project hosts music concerts called the Eden Sessions.
